Skip comprehensive and collision coverage for an older car
Collision coverage covers the cost of repairing damage caused by another vehicle or object, such as a fence. Comprehensive coverage covers vehicle damage caused by weather, vandalism, floods, and animal crashes. It also covers theft. The maximum payout under either policy depends on the vehicle’s value if it is stolen or totaled. These types of coverage may not be worth it if your car is old and has a low market value.
Raise your deductible
You can save money if you purchase collision and comprehensive coverage. Liability insurance does not have a deductible. It covers the damages you cause to others due to an accident.
