Canned Foods
While most people have some canned food in their cupboards, it could be a problem if you overeat it. Although it is excellent to open cans of food when you don’t have the time to cook,
if canned food is consumed daily, you will be consuming more sugars and preservatives, and receiving less nutritional value than if you were to eat fresh foods.
There are many reasons to choose fresh food over canned. Studies have shown that canned foods contain trace amounts of bisphenol A (BPA). Research from the Journal of Cancer Prevention shows that bisphenol A can be linked to various cancers and developmental disorders. Avoiding canned food will reduce your chance of getting them.
Consuming canned foods regularly could mean consuming aluminum and your meals, which is not something you want as part of your daily diet. Research has shown a link between aluminum in canned foods, Alzheimer’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease. Therefore, reducing your consumption of canned food is a good investment for your long-term health.
Fresh fruit and vegetables are better than canned. It also protects you from toxic chemicals in cans. The University of Bonn researchers found a link between fresh fruits and vegetable intake and improved health markers in many essential areas. This includes a lower chance of developing cancer.
