Artificial Sweeteners
It might seem like you would do your body a favor by switching to artificial sweeteners. However, sweeteners can have more calories than sugar and could be dangerous for your health. Common sweeteners such as sucralose and aspartame can increase your risk of developing diabetes.
Aspartame, an artificial sweetener made from non-saccharide sugars, is one of the most popular and controversial markets. It’s known as E951 in the European Union. If you want to avoid it, check all products before buying. Research has shown that aspartame can cause headaches, migraines, chest tightness, vision problems, nausea, and even cause cancer.
Sucralose has been linked to weight gain, insulin resistance, and increases in blood sugar. Research on rats has shown that it can disrupt the balance of the microbiome and cause increased inflammation. This is detrimental to the body. Artificial sweeteners pose many health risks. It’s best to stick with natural sweeteners if you try to reduce your sugar intake but still want to indulge in sweet treats. Instead of adding more sugar to your diet, opt for honey instead.
