Ready Meals
Although ready meals can seem convenient when you don’t have the time, they are not as nutritious as homemade meals. Ready meals, which are similar to takeout, have high levels of sugar and salt. The British Journal published a study that showed that ready-made meals could lead to obesity and poor compliance with healthy nutritional recommendations.
People who consume ready meals, or ultra-processed foods, consume approximately 500 more calories each day than those who eat unprocessed food. Also, ready-to-eat foods cause people to eat more quickly than those who eat minimally processed food. This could lead to excess weight.
Although ready meals can be quick; smaller portions than typical takeout will make them less filling and encourage you to eat more often. They are often packed with chemicals and preservatives, making them not the best option for your health. Instead, you should opt for a healthier snack or meal.
