Green Potatoes
Although there is a lot of information about the health benefits of potatoes, there is not much about the downsides. Potatoes can lead to weight gain depending on how they are prepared and how often they are eaten, especially if they’re deep-fried. Frying food increases the calories because it is soaked in oil. It’s better to bake, boil or broil.
Potatoes can spike blood sugar if you eat too many. You should avoid sweet potatoes if you have diabetes or hyperglycemia. They are healthier and more beneficial for your health overall.
If you love potatoes, there is another thing you need to be aware of: the color of your starchy snacks. Green potatoes are not a good choice.
They contain solanine, a glycoalkaloid poison that can be found in nightshade species. Alexander Pavlista, an assistant professor at the University of Nebraska Lincoln, has published a report that shows why 16 ounces of green potatoes can cause sickness. This is equivalent to eating one large baked potato. Bottom line: If you find a green potato in your pocket, don’t eat them. But, if it is crucial to you, you can switch to sweet baked potatoes if you wish to be super healthy.
