Limit the Use of Air Conditioning
Reduce fuel consumption by using your car’s A/C system less. Even though it might feel uncomfortable, you can reduce your car’s use of its air conditioning (A/C). Most traditional, internal-combustion-powered vehicles rely on an A/C compressor driven off the engine. The compressor adds an extra load to the engine, which reduces fuel economy.
You have to remember that rolling down the windows of your car can also result in decreased fuel economy due to increased aerodynamic drag. If you want to get every drop of fuel out of your car’s tank during summer, wear your tank top and shorts.
